It is the first book in the world with “waistbeads” in the title and the first to address waistbeads in Western culture. Tying waistbeads around her midsection created a new awareness of herself. To her surprise, there was little information on the waist bead lifestyle, a simple method to begin creating a positive relationship with yourself. In response, she made it her business, literally, to educate other women on the benefits of waistbeads and the sisterhood that accompanies it. In this book, Donna shares her story to empower women of color to embark on a path of self-attunement and discovery by reconnecting with the traditional cultural African practice of wearing waistbeads.
